WSU tests lockdown system for the first time next week

From staff reports

WSU will experience its first campus-wide lockdown drill next week. Beginning at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday morning, the lockdown will simulate what would happen if a hostile intruder was on campus, according to a WSU news release.

During the drill, the electronic-powered locks on interior and exterior doors around campus buildings will automatically close and remain locked until noon. The lockdown is intended to provide those on campus with instruction for emergency procedures, according to the news release.
