WSDOT holds open house for resurfacing project

From staff reports

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) staff will provide information on the state Route 270 resurfacing job and its impact on downtown Pullman at an open house in Sunnyside Elementary School’s cafeteria from 6 – 8 p.m. today.

There will be no formal presentation, but those interested will be able to ask questions, according to the City of Pullman’s website.

WSDOT contractors will grind existing asphalt and resurface SR 270 “from the U.S. 195 intersection to about half a mile past Bishop Boulevard,” according to Pullman’s website. They will also attend to Davis Way, a short section of Grand Avenue, Main Street and Paradise Street, according to the WSDOT website.

The goal of this hot mix asphalt resurfacing is to provide a smooth roadway and to protect the underlying highway structure, according to the WSDOT website.

Additionally, the contractors are replacing 70 curb ramps, improving traffic signals, installing signs and restriping the pavement, according to the city’s website.

All repairs will cost $2,300 and will start during the summer, according to the WSDOT website.
