Fire at Rancho Viejo causes ‘significant’ damage to kitchen

From staff reports

Emergency responders treated one person for smoke inhalation following a fire at approximately 8:40 a.m. today in the upstairs kitchen at Rancho Viejo in downtown Pullman.

Pullman Fire Capt. James Turpin said no other injuries were reported and firefighters contained the fire to the kitchen. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

He said damage was “significant” to the kitchen and owners will have to make major repairs before they reopen. There is no cost estimate at this time.

Paradise Street was closed temporarily for safety precautions but is now open, Turpin said. The east parking lot, however, remains closed for the ongoing investigation.

Turpin said he expects the department to release additional details later today.
