Pullman City Council member announces re-election campaign

From staff reports

Two-term Pullman City Councilman Al Sorensen announced his bid for re-election this week. He currently presides over the 1st Ward of the city.

After four years serving on the council, Sorenson said it was an easy decision to run again because his top priority is to continue efforts to revitalize downtown Pullman.

Sorensen graduated from WSU in 1989 and is the owner of Pioneer Insurance. There are currently no other challengers for his current seat.

A couple of weeks ago, Mayor Glenn Johnson said Sorenson was planning to run for re-election, but he had not yet formally announced his plans at the time.

There are three Pullman City Council positions up for election this year, and the candidate filing period begins next month.

Interested candidates can file for candidacy between May 1 and 19 by mail, and in-person between May 15 and 19. General elections will be held on Nov. 7.
