WSU track and field concluded the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State University with four athletes competing in the hammer throw.

In the men’s hammer throw, senior Brock Eager finished in fourth place with a best of 71.90 meters out of his six attempts. Senior Amani Brown followed by placing 16th overall with a best of 62.47 meters out of three total attempts.

As for the women’s hammer throw, junior Stacia Bell placed 13th in flight two of the finals for the event. Junior Aoife Martin finished the flight four finals in 15th place.

The Cougars also competed at the Brian Clay invitational in Azusa, California.

Starting with the female athletes, junior Desi Stinger recorded a time of 37:28:08 placing 15th in the second heat of the 10000-meter run.

In the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Zorana Grujic marked a time of 10:15.79 placing fourth.

The Cougars’ greatest success came from redshirt junior Molly Scharmann who took first place in the women’s pole vault with a height of 4.05 meters followed by junior Chrisshnay Brown who marked 15.15 meters in the women’s shotput finishing fourth.

Starting off the men’s events, senior Kyler Little led the Cougars in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:01.10 finishing 10th overall.

Junior Emmanuel Wells marked a time of 10.49 seconds and finished ninth overall for the Cougars in the men’s 100 meter dash.

Freshman Jacob Englar finished third for the men’s pole vault with a height of 5.10 meters and senior Robby Flores placed sixth overall with a distance of 14.80 for the men’s triple jump.

Senior Peyton Fredrickson found success as he recorded a new personal best in the men’s high jump with 2.16 meters for a second place finish. Junior Nick Johnson placed second overall in the men’s 110 hurdles with a time of 13.99 seconds.

WSU track and field returns to competition on Friday in Corvallis, Oregon, for the Oregon State High Performance meet at the Whyte Track and Field Center.
