WSU baseball wraps up its season against Arizona Wildcats this weekend at Bailey-Brayton Field two days after former Head Coach Marty Lees was fired.

Associate Head Coach and Pitching Coach Dan Spencer will be an interim head coach for the weekend.

The Cougars (11-39-1, 3-23-1) won the last game in their series against Utah. The Wildcats (29-24, 12-14) are on a seven-game win streak including a road sweep against Penn State. In the last seven games, the Wildcats have scored a total of 85 runs.

Spencer said the pitchers need to pitch well for WSU to have a chance to win.

“I think you’re always excited for the opportunity to pitch against a very good group of hitters,” Spencer said.

Since the first matchup in 2000, Arizona has a 34-23 record against WSU.

First pitch is Thursday at 6 p.m. at Bailey-Brayton Field in Pullman. Friday’s game starts at 6 p.m. and Saturday’s game starts at noon. All the games can be viewed on the Pac-12 Networks.
