Tigers fall to Cougars

Lusby makes 33 kills in UTRGV Tournament

The WSU volleyball team brought its win streak to 10 games after sweeping the Texas Southern University Tigers Saturday morning.

The Cougars defeated Texas Southern 25-9, 27-25, 25-9 and had a hitting percentage of .255. The Tigers had 18 attack errors, 17 kills and a hitting percentage of -.011.

Freshman outside hitter Alexcis Lusby and freshman middle blocker Magda Jehlarova led the Cougars with eight kills each.

Gabbie Heller, redshirt freshman outside hitter, followed with seven kills and made two aces. Jehlarova also led the team with four blocks. Lusby made 33 kills throughout the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Tournament.

The Cougars return home to start Pac-12 play against the No. 10 Washington Huskies at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Bohler Gym. The game can be viewed on the Pac-12 Networks.
