The Whitman County Coroner completed the investigation into the death of a WSU football player.

Bryce Beekman, WSU student and redshirt senior, passed away from acute intoxication on March 23, according to a press release issued on Friday from Whitman County Coroner Annie Pillars. This was caused by “the combined effects of fentanyl and promethazine,” according to the release.

Beekman’s death was accidental, according to the release.

WSU learned of Beekman’s death on March 24, according to a statement issued on March 25 from WSU Athletics.

In the statement, WSU Athletic Director Pat Chun said Beekman “was a tremendous young man” who “will be missed by all.”
