WSU’s Panhellenic Council moved recruitment online due to COVID-19. The event schedule will remain the same as previous years but will be conducted online for fall.

Corissa Cruzen, PHC vice president of membership recruitment, said the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life decided all Greek communities should go virtual. The council was in agreement with that decision.

Cruzen said hosting a virtual recruitment will minimize the risk and exposure to COVID-19, but still allow them to welcome new members to the community.

Farrin Johnson, PHC vice president of public relations, said the health and safety of the community members come first.

Recruiting potential new members online is not an experience she is used to, Johnson said, but she is very excited and looks forward to the opportunity.

Corissa said recruitment is still going to occur from Aug. 15-23. Virtual recruitment will have the same schedule and the same amount of events as previous in-person recruitment. Potential new members are still going to have conversations with different chapters, she said.

Corissa said she does not anticipate a decrease in potential new members participating virtually even if there is a decrease in the university’s overall enrollment.

There are still a lot of things the Greek community needs to discuss due to COVID-19, Johnson said. Future updates will be posted on the PHC’s social media pages.
