Handy continues to hold slight lead over Kinzer

About 700 ballots need to be counted; next count will be Nov. 18

Whitman County Commissioner 2 candidate Tom Handy has a slight lead over incumbent Dean Kinzer.

Handy has 50.25 percent of votes for the position, while Kinzer has 49.23 percent, according to the Whitman County general election website. 0.52 percent of voters selected a write-in candidate for the Commissioner 2 position.

Unopposed incumbent Art Swannack holds 93.9 percent of the votes for the County Commissioner 1 seat, according to the website. 6.1 percent of voters selected a write-in candidate for the position.

Incumbent Gary J. Libey, running unopposed for Whitman County Superior Judge Position 1, holds 97.15 percent of the votes. 2.85 percent of voters selected a write-in candidate, according to the website.

As of 4:55 p.m. Friday, 20,167 of the ballots had been counted. There are about 700 uncounted ballots, according to the website. The results will be updated at 9 p.m. Nov. 18.
