WSU women’s soccer released their regular season schedule for the 2022 fall season.

Last season WSU finished with a record of 14-3-4 overall and 7-1-3 in Pac-12 conference play. WSU lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament last season 2-0 to the Tennessee Lady Volunteers.

Last season’s leading goal scorers were Elyse Bennett with 10 and Grayson Lynch with eight. Bennett was the No. 7 overall pick by the Kansas City Current in the 2021 National Women’s Soccer League Draft and Lynch will be a senior this season for the Cougs.

WSU soccer opens their season Friday Aug. 12 and will host the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The first away match of the season will be Aug. 18 when the Cougs travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on the Wolverines.

After Michigan, the Cougs have two straight home games against the Portland Pilots and Eastern Washington Eagles. WSU beat Eastern Washington last season 4-0.

Seattle U got the better of the Cougs in 2021 with a 2-1 victory but WSU will look to take revenge in their first game of 2022 in September. The Cougs then have a three-game homestand against Denver, Cal Poly and Northern Colorado followed by a trip to Moraga, California against Saint Mary’s.

WSU starts their conference season on Sept. 23 as they travel to Corvallis, Oregon to take on the Oregon State Beavers. The Cougs defeated the Beavers 3-2 in overtime last season. The Cougs then have two home conference matchups against Colorado and Utah. WSU won 2-0 against Colorado and 1-0 against Utah last season.

WSU will travel to California for two games starting October 6 as they take on California and then Stanford the following Sunday. WSU beat Cal 2-0 but fell to Stanford 1-0 in 2021.

WSU then has a three-game homestand against the Oregon Ducks and both Arizona and Arizona State. WSU got a 1-0 victory over the Ducks and a 2-0 victory over the Wildcats but drew with the Sun Devils 2-2 in overtime.

The last away trip for the Cougs in the 2022 regular season puts the Cougs in Los Angeles as they compete against UCLA and USC. Last season WSU drew with both teams, USC was a 0-0 draw and UCLA was a 1-1 draw, both L.A. teams were ranked in the top 10 last season.

The last game of the regular season for WSU is the Apple Cup which takes place November 4 against the Washington Huskies in Pullman. The Cougs won the Apple Cup last season 4-2 in Seattle and will look to get another win against Washington to end the season.
