Keara Fitzgerald transferred to WSU from UC San Diego in 2024. While she hoped to play in 2024, she suffered a season-ending injury and was not able to play, instead taking a medical redshirt.
Prior to her transfer to Wazzu, Fitzgerald spent four years at UCSD. After not playing a season in 2020, due to COVID, she got her first taste of action for the Tritons in 2021. As a freshman, she was named to the All-Big West All-Freshman team. She totaled 62 saves and finished the year with a .713 save percentage.
In 2022, as a sophomore, she led the Big West with 105 saves. Fitzgerald notched four shutouts, and set a program record when she managed 10 saves against the University of San Francisco.
In 2023, she again led the Big West in saves, and also led the Big West in saves per game.
Fitzgerald will likely compete with fellow senior transfer Zora Standifer for the starting goalie job in 2025, as the team’s previous goalie, Nadia Cooper, is moving on from Wazzu.
