Kirby Vorhees is a redshirt sophomore running back who transferred from South Dakota State University to WSU in the spring of 2025.
Vorhees grew up in Lutz, Florida, and played football at Steinbrenner High School. He went for over 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons and was an all-conference selection in back-to-back seasons.
In 2023, he began his collegiate career at SDSU. He appeared in four games and was named as the Jackrabbits’ Scout Offense Player of the Year.
The next season, Vorhees earned the opportunity to see the field at running back in 13 games. He scored 13 touchdowns and rushed for 581 yards, averaging 7.7 yards per carry. He also returned three kicks for 23 yards and caught a pass for five yards.
He followed head coach Jimmy Rogers from SDSU to WSU in the spring of 2025 and is expected to factor into the Cougars’ running back rotation.
