Michael Hughes is a redshirt sophomore defensive end from Santa Ana, California, and a member of the WSU football team.

After attending Santa Ana High School, Hughes came to WSU in 2023, where he spent the season as a redshirt. He won Scout Team Player of the Week following the Colorado State game.

In 2024, Hughes made his WSU debut against Portland State University and made three tackles. He would appear in two more games, including the Holiday Bowl against No. 21 Syracuse, but did not record another tackle.
