Greek houses Phi Gamma Delta, Beta Theta Pi and Sigma Nu will be disciplined after providing alcohol to underage members during the 2024-25 school year.
According to WSU’s Sam’s Law website, Fraternity Phi Gamma Delta will be forbidden from providing alcohol during the fall 2025 semester for an incident in October. The fraternity also must hire a third-party bartender and security if they are allowed to provide alcohol in the spring semester. Members also will receive alcohol training and will submit an action plan to avoid further incidents.
This is not the first time Phi Gamma Delta has been disciplined for giving alcohol to minors. In December 2023, they were put on disciplinary probation after an incident in September 2023.
Sigma Nu and Beta Theta Pi must undergo alcohol training for incidents in March and April.
Sigma Nu was previously disciplined in 2021 for breaking COVID-19 protocols.
Additionally, Fraternity Gamma Iota Omicron is under investigation for hazing during the 2025 spring semester.
This comes after Fraternity Alpha Sigma Phi was shut down in April for hazing new members.
WSU President Elizabeth Cantwell will be meeting with the Greek houses early into the fall semester, according to WSU spokesperson Pam Scott.
President Cantwell said previously she wants to meet with the leaders of every house twice a year.
“I would expect to be meeting with Greek life early and I’m not talking about the administrative side, I am talking about the student leadership side,” Cantwell said.
