Moscow High School took on Pullman High School for their yearly matchup. Moscow came off a win to open their season, beating Lewiston 23-18, while Pullman came off a loss to Lakeside 37-0.
The Greyhounds started off the game drawing the Bears offside and on the next play, quarterback Conner Stewart threw a pick to Moscow junior Ryle Chaney.
“Ryle’s been a dog for us all year long,” Moscow head coach Rob Bafus said.

After one quarter, Moscow led 14-0, causing multiple turnovers. Stewart made costly mistakes that resulted in both scoring drives for the Bears.
In the second quarter, the Bears were able to stop the Greyhounds in their own end zone, resulting in a safety, making the score 16-0. They were not done after that. They scored another touchdown to go up 23-0.
The Greyhounds did not get into rhythm until the final two minutes of the half, when Stewart connected on a pass for 40 yards and capped off the drive with a seven-yard touchdown run from Daniel Liaina.
In the second half, the Greyhounds’ offense stalled on many drives. On the flip side, the Greyhounds’ defense was able to pitch a shutout in the second half and held the Bears to 23. There was no other score until Pullman went on another two-minute drill to end the game and scored to make the final score 23-13.

Pullman head coach Kevin Agnew explained why the tempo offense was not used more.
“We were in our two-minute offense,” Agnew said.
Stewart and Nicholas Neville said they wished they had used more tempo offense, as that was what was working and got them into a “flow state.”
Bafus, who is from Pullman, got emotional reminiscing about his time and the meaning of the rivalry between the two schools.
“I’m from Pullman. I played on this field,” Bafus said. “Coach Hobbs coached me. I know he is smiling right now. It is as big a win as I have ever had.”
Pullman’s next game will be at Deer Park on Friday. Moscow will play St. Maries on Friday as well.
