The Pullman Greyhounds take on the Roger Pirates, a red-hot team that takes on a team on the brink of a winless season.
The Greyhounds are coming off a win against the East Valley Knights, 29-6. Prior to the game, head coach Kevin Agnew was not able to get the team going. They had been outscored 129 to 58. Quarterback Conner Stewart was not able to score points consistently and limit turnovers.
Before their last game, the Greyhounds were 0-4, and their most recent loss came from West Valley High School. The score was 6-3 going into the fourth quarter, then the Eagles scored 15 points in the fourth as the Greyhounds broke down defensively and were stagnant offensively, losing 21-3.
The Pirates are 3-2; they were on a three-game winning streak before facing West Valley High School and losing like the Greyhounds, though they lost 24-7 instead of 6-3. However, the Pirates have outscored their opponents 122 to 58.
Last season, the Pirates were 4-5-1 but were able to beat Pullman 28-14. The record between the two in the last five years was 1-2. Pullman is coming off a mini bye week, where they are looking to find a way to bring some momentum into this game and come out firing on all cylinders.
In almost all of their games, the Greyhound offense has not come out firing and scoring early. The Pirates have not had the same issues; they have been able to score quickly and efficiently.
Some interesting things to pay attention to are whether or not the Greyhound offense can continue their success from last week into this game. Will the Pirates be able to contain their offensive balance and abandon one aspect? How will Pullman’s home field advantage help them win this game, their last home game against the Moscow Bears? The crowd played a role in helping draw some false starts.
Pullman Greyhound vs Roger Pirates is at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Pullman High School.
