The Cougars have landed their latest verbal commitment for the class of 2026: quarterback/athlete John Johnson. Hailing from Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, Johnson stands at 6 feet and weighs 180 pounds.
Johnson had originally committed to Liberty University back in February. The Cougars offered him Oct. 16 and took his visit Oct. 24. Johnson then decommitted from Liberty on Nov. 5. Johnson also held offers from Nebraska and Tulane.
In his junior season, Johnson led Edna Karr to an undefeated season while winning the state championship game MVP. In his high school career, Johnson accounted for 9,253 total yards and 121 total touchdowns. Johnson is the second athlete to commit in the 2026 class and the 24th overall. According to 247sports.com, Johnson is the highest rated player in the Cougar class. The early signing period opens Dec. 3.
