It was reported on Monday afternoon that women’s soccer head coach Todd Shulenberger will be leaving Washington State for the Ole Miss Rebels. This comes only weeks after the firing of Athletic Director Anne McCoy.
The Rebels parted ways with their former head coach, Molly Rouse, at the conclusion of the 2025 season. In her three seasons leading the Rebels, she ended with a record of 16-28-7.
Prior to this sudden exit, there was no sign that Shulenberger had any intent to leave WSU.
Shulenberger has been struggling to find success as of recently, as the Cougars last made the NCAA tournament in 2021, where they reached the second round. In addition to this, Shulenberger has struggled to keep players on the Palouse, seeing multiple players leave via the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Not only will the Cougars be with a new head coach next season, but they will also be in a new conference as the Cougs are joining the newly built PAC-12 conference. They have spent the last two years in the West Coast Conference, where Shunlenberger led them to a 10-6-5 record in conference play over that time.
In his time in Pullman, Shulenberger led the Cougs for 11 seasons, where he was able to finish with an overall record of 113-67-34, and had five tournament appearances, including a 2019 College Cup.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
