The Pro Cougs in the NFL wild card edition is officially over as only two of the four will proceed. Kyle Williams made a crucial catch and Daiyan Henley provided coverage and tackling all over the field.
Here is a recap:
Kyle Williams: Against the Chargers Williams did not produce much but he did catch one pass for seven yards on fourth down. The catch and situation are extremely important. If Williams did not catch the pass the Chargers would have had the ball on the plus side of the field, with a chance to take the lead in the first quarter.

Daiyan Henley: With the season on the line Henley showed out for the Chargers, while the game was low scoring Henley was seen all over the field. He finished with 13 total tackles, one interception, one pass deflection and he gave up one catch for three yards. This season was up and down for Henley but ending on a high note was key. While his current deal goes until 2027 the Chargers could look to lock up the star linebacker for an extension.

WSU linebacker Daiyan Henley celebrates after making a play during an NCAA football game against Colorado State, Sep. 17.
Chau Smith-Wade: After an underperforming game last week Smith-Wade was locked in against the Rams. Smith-Wade only played 47 snaps due to the Rams’ use of 13 personnel (three tight-ends). His figure is not ideal for the blocking matchup. However, when he was in the game he made plays, totaling four tackles and giving up one out of three targets for 11 yards. Smith-Wade also nearly had a pick that went by his feet. The Panthers’ defense had a chance but soft coverage late in the game limited plays to be made by Smith-Wade and the Panther defensive backs.

Overall, this season was good for both Smith-Wade and Henley and even though their seasons are respectively over they have momentum going into next season. As for Williams and Abraham Lucas they have another opportunity to show out for WSU in the NFL playoffs.
