WSU athletics announced that Alex Nestor has been named an assistant soccer coach by head coach Chris Citowicki. Nestor has been head coach of the University of Penn State Brandywine, a D-III program. Last season he led the team to a 6-8-1 record with an appearance in the United East Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament, their first appearance in D-III.
Beyond that, Nestor has coaching experience at The Tatanil school in Wilmington, Delaware where he was able to lead the boys team to their first winning season in 12 years, he coached them for years, as well as the girls team for an additional two years.
Additionally, Nestor has a large knowledge of goalkeeping with a USC GK-3 Diploma, and experience as a goalkeeper coach for the Liverpool International academy and with the New England Revolution for a season. He also spent time as the Director of Goalkeeping for Delaware FC as well as an assistant coach for the Delaware Ospreys who play in the Women’s Premier Soccer League.
Nester has been able to find success in coaching and with his knowledge of goalkeeping, fans can expect opposing goals to be at a premium.
