Washington State adds international talent to its backend with commitment from defenseman Emil Riska.
Riska, a 20-year-old from Helsinki, Finland, is a current player on the Islanders Hockey Club in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL). The two-way defenseman recorded 36 points (11 goals, 25 assists) in 43 games this season. This performance ranks him as one of the biggest offensive threats amongst defensemen in the league.
With two senior defenseman walking the stage this semester, Riska will bring a veteran presence, as well as size and versatility to the Cougars’ defensive and offensive game next season.
