Voter registration must be conducted in person starting today

Registration can be completed at Whitman County’s Election Office in Colfax or The Voting Hub in the CUB

Voter registration must be completed in person either in Colfax or the CUB. Residents must wear masks and obey safety measures while registering.

Starting today, Washington state voters can register in-person at Whitman County’s Election Office or The Student Voting Hub in the Compton Union Building.

Oct. 26 was the last day to register to vote online.

The election office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 304 N. Main Street in Colfax, Whitman County Auditor Sandy Jamison wrote in an email. The office will also be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 3, which is Election Day.

Residents can also register and vote in-person on Election Day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Voting Hub on the second floor of the CUB Junior Ballroom, Jamison wrote.

COVID-19 safety precautions will be taken at both voter registration locations, and people are required to wear masks to enter, she wrote.

If people have already received their ballot in the mail, it is best to send it to a USPS mail drop or one of the Whitman County ballot drop boxes. People are discouraged from coming to the sites to decrease the probability of viral contact unless they have no other means to vote, she wrote.

A staffed site to drop off ballots will be open on Election Day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pullman Recreation Center at 190 SE Crestview, Building #B, she wrote.

This site is only for voters who need help downloading a ballot and those who want to drop their envelopes in the ballot box. Masks and social distancing will also be required at this venue, Jamison wrote.

Residents can contact Whitman County’s Election Office at (509) 397-5284 for more information.
