WSU Pullman suspended normal operations and classes starting at 2 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 17, in Pullman, Wash.

WSU’s Pullman campus canceled classes after 2 p.m. Wednesday in response to the extreme weather conditions.

The closure came as Pullman was in the midst of a winter storm that was scheduled to last until 10 p.m.

According to Weather.com, residents of Pullman, as well as six other towns, can expect heavy snow, between 0.5 – 1 inch per hour throughout the afternoon, slippery road conditions and areas of heavy snow blowing.

As a response to these conditions, WSU issued an alert at 1:13 p.m. that they were suspsending operations after 2 p.m., which was intended to allow non-essential personnel and students to have additional travel time to leave campus before the storm worsens.

“We anticipate resuming normal operations tomorrow,” the statement reads.
