As the 2024-25 school year comes to an end, we honor the senior athletes who have graduated from WSU and are leaving Pullman for bigger and better things. This is the 2024-25 Daily Evergreen senior athlete farewell series.
Weronika Wojdyla wrapped up a resilient and team-first volleyball career at Wazzu in 2024, having grown from a developmental redshirt to a key contributor on a record-setting team. Although she only appeared in seven matches as a redshirt senior, Wojdyla played a much bigger role during the Cougars NCAA tournament run in 2022.
Wojdyla’s most transformative season came in 2022, when injuries to the Cougars’ starting middle blockers forced her to shift from outside hitter to middle mid-season. Initially struggling in the new role, she found her rhythm over time, hitting .440 and averaging 0.65 blocks per set over a nine-match stretch in which WSU went 7-2. She played one of the best games of her career in the first round of the NCAA tournament, when her eight blocks helped lead the Cougars to a victory over UNLV.
In 2024 as a graduate senior, Wojdyla stepped up, setting a career high in kills (81), assists (3), digs (36)and aces (11). She played in 89 sets across 28 matches, becoming a regular in the Cougs rotation. She averaged 0.91 kills-per-set, 0.40 digs-per-set and 0.29 blocks-per-set.
She saw limited action in 2021 and 2020, but still contributed key plays, including a kill and block assist in a sweep over Arizona, and her first collegiate kill and service ace during a 2020 match against Cal.
Arriving at WSU in 2019 from Kraków, Poland, Wojdyla brought an impressive international résumé. She had helped Sparta Karow win a regional junior title and reach the Polish Cadet Cup quarterfinals, earning MVP honors in the Director’s Cup with UKS Sparta Volleyball Kraków.
Wojdyla’s career at WSU was defined by adaptability, leadership, and selflessness. Whether filling in as a middle blocker, making clutch postseason plays, or offering veteran presence in her final season, she consistently embodied the team’s commitment to excellence. Her journey from redshirt to tournament standout exemplifies what it means to be a Cougar.
