Car jam sours party
The Daily Evergreen reported Aug. 24, 1987, a party hosted by fraternity Phi Delta Theta at Boyer Park in Colfax was ruined by traffic when everyone left.
“The sheriff’s department told us that there were an estimated 4,000 cars at Boyer,” said Joe Toner, vice president of Phi Delta Theta.
An estimated 10,000 to 12,000 people attended the event.
Aid office uses Web to lessen long lines
It was reported Aug. 29, 2000, the Financial Aid office attempted to lessen wait time and shorten lines by using ‘the Infonet’ to get information out faster.
At that time, the Financial Aid office saw 500 to 600 students a day.
Guzman chosen as interim registar
The Daily Evergreen reported Aug. 28, 1998, David Guzman will serve as interim registrar after the then-current registrar announced his departure. Whoever wrote the headline misspelled registrar, forgetting the second r after the t.
The registrar handles university registration, student transcripts and diplomas.
Wash. State Golf Course Almost Ready
The Daily Evergreen—then called the Washington State Evergreen— reported Aug. 10, 1934, that a new golf course is nearing completion. The course was described as “one of the sportiest nine-hole layouts in the entire Northwest.”
