The Cougars traveled down to Arkansas for their third tournament of the year, where they joined nine other teams in competition. The Arkansas Razorbacks were the host of the competition, and they showed out dominating on their home course with a score of eight under par. They were the only team to shoot under par in the tournament.Â
The Cougars finished at ninth with 74 over par in three rounds after shooting 24 over par in round three. One of the positive notes for the team is freshman, Kaitlyn Helm, who has looked great through the first three tournaments of the season. She finished the tournament with 12 over par putting her at 16th in the player pool.Â
One of Helm’s great moments was on the very first hole of the tournament where she hit a birdie on the 416 yard par four, making a strong start to her round. On hole 14 in round one, Helm also got a birdie on the hardest hole of the tournament statistically. On hole 14, players averaged a score of 4.54 which is .54 above the par on the dog-leg to the right on the 412 yard par 4.Â
Junior Sara Pineros put up a score of ten over par which put her at 28th in the player pool. She finished her tournament on a strong note hitting a birdie on both holes seven and nine moving her up the player scoreboard.Â
Sophomore Agnes Brink finished with a score of 23 over par and a round three score of nine over par. In both rounds one and two, Brink birdied hole 6 which was a 331 yard par 4.Â
Senior Hannah Harrison finished with a score of 25 over par, and a round three score of ten over par. On hole two in round three, Harrison got a birdie on the longest hole in the course showing her power and precision on the long distance hole.Â
Sophomore Grace Rubelsky who got a birdie on the third hole in round three, which was a 153 yard par three. She finished with 31 over in the tournament.Â
The Cougars struggled, hitting the most bogeys in the tournament with 81, which was nine higher than the next team.Â
The Cougars will look to bounce back when they get a tropical destination on Oct. 20 going to Lihue, Hawaii to compete at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational.
