On Sunday, it was announced via Instagram that 5-foot-7 setter Kate Harris verbally committed to WSU.
“I am so thankful for Coach Korey, Coach Kristin, Coach Cassie, Coach Jason and their team for giving me this opportunity, believing in me and following my volleyball journey! I cannot wait to be a part of the program!!” Harris said in the post’s caption.
In a recent PrepDig players-ranking, posted on Jan. 3, Harris was ranked No. 9 in Washington state for the class of 2027.
This past season, she helped lead the Curtis High School Vikings to finish second in the state, after losing 3–2 to Lake Stevens in the 4A state championship game. Per MaxPreps, Harris finished the year leading the Vikings in assists (718), aces (51) and aces per set (0.6). She finished second on the team in total digs (274) and digs per set (3.5). She also recorded 91 kills. Her work earned her First Team All-State honors.
In her sophomore year, she was a part of a Vikings team that went a perfect 27-0 and ended in a 4A state championship. According to MaxPreps, that season she logged 354 total assists, which was second-most on the team behind a senior.
In her freshman year, Curtis went 21–6 overall and won a game in the state tournament. That season, per MaxPreps, she led the team in aces per set (0.5) and was second on the team in digs (251), assists (240) and total service aces (46). She was third on the team for kills with 144.
Outside of high school volleyball, she plays club volleyball for Dakine Volleyball Club. Last year, she and her team placed third at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships in the U16 National division.
