The Emergency Department is being expanded and a new laboratory is under construction. Scaffolding has been placed outside the emergency department, but the front entrance remains open.
The expansion will be done in four phases over three years. The remodel will cover roughly 33,000 square feet of existing space. The renovations will allow for same-day procedures, including imaging, lab services and surgery and emergency services.
A medical office building will be added behind the hospital in a later part of the renovations.
The project was approved back in Oct. 2025 by the Pullman Regional Hospital Board of Commissioners. They unanimously approved the $24.8 million estimate, presented by the Bouten Construction Company.
The Patient Care Expansion Project, estimated at $41 million, includes $24.8 million in remaining construction costs, and $16.2 million in pre-construction services, early electrical procurement, medical equipment and taxes.
The expansion project was approved by Pullman voters in 2022. They approved a $27.5 million bond with 76 percent super majority to help fund the project. Philanthropy, hospital operations and financing will fund the remainder of the project.
75 percent of the phases will be completed within a 3-year period. Groundbreaking began in Nov. 2025 and is estimated to be completed by late 2027.
Bouten Construction was approved by the board as the hospital’s contractor in 2024, through a general contractor and construction manager partnership. Design West Architects was approved by the board in 2024 as the architect partner.
“This project will improve access to our wonderful hospital and help us grow the Pullman Regional healthcare system”, said Tricia Grantham, president of the Pullman Regional Hospital Board of Commissioners.
Grantham continued by saying how grateful the PRH is to be partners with Bouten, which understands how special this project is.
