Earlier today, WSU men’s basketball’s freshman guard Ace Glass was named to the All-WCC Freshman Team and the All-WCC Second Team. Glass is the second WSU freshman all-time to be named to the All-WCC Freshman Team after sophomore guard Tómas Thrastarson did it last year.
The star freshman has started in 23 games, and leads the Cougars in minutes played (892), points per game (16.3) and total points (506). His 16.3 average is 4.6 points more than WSU’s second-highest average scorer, junior forward Rihards Vavers, and top-20 nationally among rookie campaigns. The 506 total points were 166 more than the Coug with the second-most: redshirt junior forward ND Okafor.
Glass also leads all Cougar guards in field goal percentage (.456), free throw percentage (.890), and is fourth in defensive rebounds (84), third in assists (70) and is tied for second in steals (24).
Compared to the WCC as a whole, Glass’ total and average points both rank No. 4, and he is tied for fourth for 3-pointers made (67).
Despite the Cougars’ rough 12–19 overall record, the freshman has been a consistent bright spot, recording 10 games with 20 or more points this season. This includes a game in late November against Arizona State when Glass put up 40 points, breaking the WSU freshman single-game scoring record.
Historically, his 40-point performance ties him for eighth in program history in points scored in a single game with J Locklier and Noah Williams.
Glass is also the second freshman in program history to score at least 500 points. The first to do it was Myles Rice in 2024. That year, Rice recorded 519 points, 13 more than Glass currently has. Glass, given his average, is on track to break the record Friday in the second round of the WCC Men’s Basketball Championship.
