Grace Carpenter has won the 2026 ASWSU Presidential election, along with running mate Reed Scott, who will be Vice President.
They defeated Collin Bannister and Emily Bell, their competitors in what was the first contested election in three years.
The election saw a massive increase in student voter turnout compared to previous years. 2,716 students cast a ballot, roughly 21.3% of the undergraduate student body, according to ASWSU. In 2025, the turnout was just 4.9%.
Carpenter ran on a campaign of proven leadership and experience. She currently serves as the ASWSU Vice President under President Isaac Velazquez.

This was a fun election to watch. I was very impressed with Carpenter and her poise during the election. She was always prepared and very knowledgeable about what the students needed and how to make it happen. She clearly cares and will be a great representative for the student body. Looking forward to seeing great things. Go Cougs!
