Cedric Coward has been invited to the NBA draft combine, the NBA announced last week.
Though Coward has already committed to play for Duke University next year, he will now have the opportunity to test the NBA waters. He was one of 75 players invited to the Combine, which is held this year in Chicago from May 11 through May 18. Last year, WSU had two players invited to the Combine. Both Jaylen Wells and Isaac Jones ended up in the NBA, with Wells garnering rookie of the year consideration before his season-ending injury.
Coward also suffered a season-ending injury this year, only playing six games as a Coug before a shoulder injury ended his year in early December.
The NBA draft will take place on June 25 and 26. It remains to be seen whether Coward would choose to play in the NBA if given the choice or to play next year at Duke. Presumably, if he is drafted, he will take his talents to the NBA, but if he goes drafted, another year in college could boost his chances in the 2026 draft.
