Parker Gerrits was one of Washington’s best high school hoopers.
He led Olympia High School to the 4A State Championship game in 2023, averaging 19.3 points and being named to the 4A All-State first team. Then he came to WSU.
Gerrits spoke on the Coug’d Up podcast about his love of Pullman and his desire to play for the Cougars. He said he turned down offers from smaller schools and instead walked on at WSU because of how much he loved Wazzu growing up.
After redshirting in 2024, Gerrits was one of just two Cougars to stick around through the transition from former coach Kyle Smith to current coach David Riley. The pointguard earned a scholarship spot and started getting rotation minutes as a redshirt freshman in 2024-25.
In 32 games, he averaged 9.4 minutes, 1.5 points, 0.9 assists and 1 rebound per game. Gerrits filled in for the injured Marcus Wilson and Isaiah Watts at various points of the year.
Next year, Gerrits could compete for the starting pointguard spot.
