WSU fired Athletic Director Anne McCoy on Nov. 12, then landed a top 42 power forward in the country. Brayden Kyman is a 6 ‘7, 200-pound forward from Santa Margarita Catholic High School, the same school Klay Thompson attended.
WSU Head Coach David Riley coached Kyman’s brother, Jake Kyman, at Eastern Washington University. The Kyman brothers have very similar play styles. Jake excelled in Riley’s offense, averaging 10.6 points per game while shooting 40.6% from three.
Riley has been trying to find a culture for his team, and the recruitment of Kyman shows he wants team-oriented players who want to develop and stay with the team. In his player profile, Kyman sounded like a perfect match.
“I am looking for a four-year basketball home where there’s a strong, team-first culture, no egos and we play for each other,” Kyman said.
WSU first offered him on June 25, 2024. Kyman gave WSU a verbal commitment, but it was not official until Nov. 12, 2025.
This is a big get for WSU as the new Pac-12 looks to be a good basketball conference. WSU has to bring in under-recruited gems, especially since WSU President Betsy Cantwell expects WSU to have the lowest NIL resources of anyone in the Pac-12.
WSU has two commits so far in the 2026 class.
