The Coug tandem of Cedric Coward and Jaylen Wells showed out once again, however Klay Thompson and Mouhamed Gueye had a week they did not see coming in regards to production and minutes.
Cedric Coward (Grizzlies) – To start the week Coward came out swinging with a career high in both points and assists. Against the 76ers he scored 28 points, 16 rebounds and four assists. He followed up the career night with a stinker, totaling 5 points, seven rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block against the Lakers on 20% shooting from the field. To end the week he scored 16 points, eight rebounds and one assist on 66.7% shooting from three. Coward only played 13 minutes in the first half however due to an ankle injury.

Jaylen Wells (Grizzlies) – Despite losing all three games last week Wells shined in two of the three games. Against the 76ers in an overtime game Wells scored 14 points, four rebounds and two assists on 50% shooting from the field. In the first of two games against the Lakers Wells scored 6 points, one rebounds, two assists and one steal. He finished shooting an abysmal 18.2% from the field and 25% from three. To end the week Wells had 23 points, one rebound, two assists and five personal fouls. Despite the strong scoring he still shot below 28% from three.

Klay Thompson (Mavericks) – It was a low production week for Thompson in both points and minutes. Against the Blazers he scored 14 points, one rebound and one assist on 30% three point shooting. Against the 76ers he had 9 points, two rebounds and one assist on 20% shooting from three. To end the week he scored 9 points, three rebounds and one assist on 50% shooting from deep. With rumors of trades looming the Mavericks could be trying to pocket Thompson’s health for potential trades, or head coach Jason Kidd may not want to put him in the rotation.
Mouhamed Gueye (Hawks) – It was a quiet week for Gueye scoring zero points in all three games. Against OKC he had five rebounds, three assists and two steals. He followed up the performance with one rebound, one assist and one steal. To end the week he had four rebounds, one assist and two steals. Gueye has struggled heavily the last month with both production and minutes, he played less than five minutes in two of the three games last week.

Overall, it was a strange week for the Cougs, some had strong showing but then got injured and others saw their minutes hit season lows. With the trade deadline approaching in the coming months it will be interesting to see if Gueye or Thompson are moved from their respective teams.
