Spring recruitment is off to a great start as the Greek life Panhellenic Executive Council put on their Spring Sorority Fair Tues. Jan. 13 in the CUB. The fair took place in the Junior Ballroom and had booths with members from each sorority chapter hosting their stations.

Students hoping to rush arrive at the sorority fair on Jan. 13 in the CUB Junior Ballroom.
Spring recruitment is a great way to get another chance to “informally rush” if someone could not attend formal rush, had financial burdens or was just contemplating the best next step for them.
Someone choosing spring informal recruitment can attend one of these fairs to hear more about what each chapter is passionate about, what the community is like and see if it would be a beneficial fit for them. The chapters also have members go out to coffee or meet and talk with new hopeful recruits about what the next year or the rest of their college experience could hold.
Panhellenic Recruitment Chair Stella Moore is highly passionate about her Greek Life experience. She chose to step into this leadership position after being the recruitment chair of her sorority in previous years.
“The support system has been my favorite part of it, so that’s why I’ve been so into recruitment,” said Moore. “I want to help girls find a place where they feel confident and comfortable being themselves.”

If a student didn’t rush in the fall, there’s still time to join a sorority on campus in the spring.
The spring recruits are called “COBs,” which stands for continuous open bidding. Freshman COB Falynn Jones attended the fair and learned all about her options for chapters to join. She talked about many of the different reasons and benefits for wanting to become a COB and follow through with spring recruitment.
“I talked to a girl who made her best friends in her sorority and she could see them being her bridesmaids when she gets married one day and it made me want it even more,” said Jones.
Every college student is looking for something to be a part of and spring recruitment is a great way to get involved with the Greek life system.
“I just want to make a good group of friends and become more involved,” said freshman COB, Liliana Vela.
The sorority chapters have brought valuable lessons about finding who you are through the time girls have spent in their chapter.
“I’ve learned how important it is to be yourself. Being who you are is the best way to find where you want to spend your time,” said freshman Brooklyn McCully.
The Greek Life system makes up a whole community of students at WSU who are passionate about helping people through philanthropy, growing academically through study sessions and finding lifelong friends through their chapters.
