Another week is in the books for Pro Cougars in the NBA. All Pro Cougs played well aside from Jaylen Wells who struggled. Thompson has been picking up his production and showing glimpses from pre-2019 when he sustained both an ACL and Achilles tear.
Cedric Coward (Grizzlies) – The NBA took both the Grizzlies and Magic global to Berlin and London for the first time this season. Coward showed out in game one against the Magic posting 17 points, three rebounds, two assists and two blocks. He was able to get to his spots on the court all day whenever and on whoever he wanted to. In game two he had 13 points, four rebounds and three assists. Coward struggled from beyond the arc missing all three attempts, in their first matchup of the week he shot 42.9% making three out of seven attempts. With Ja Morant back in the lineup the floor will open up for Coward.

Cedric Coward celebrates after a WSU basket, Nov. 9, in Pullman, Wash.
Klay Thompson (Mavericks) – For the first time all season Thompon shot over 46% or higher in at least three games in a week. Against the Nets he scored 18 points, two rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal on 66.7% from three. Against the Nuggets he had 8 points, one rebound and one steal on 28.6% from three, the wings on the Nuggets made life difficult for Thompson. In the first of two matchups against the Jazz this week he scored 26 points, one rebound, six assists, one block and one steal. Thompson having six assists is a part of his game that has never been unlocked, he had five assists combined in the other three games last week. To end off the week he had 23 points, three assists and two blocks against the Jazz.
Jaylen Wells (Grizzlies) – In limited action Wells played mediocre. Against the Magic he had 2 points and two rebounds on 14.3% shooting from the field. To end off the week Wells scored 10 points and two rebounds on 75% shooting from three. It has been tough for Wells to have some consistency this season, he started off cold then turned on a heater but has not returned to the same player over the past few weeks.

Jaylen Wells dribbles low before rising up for a quick shot attempt, March 2, in Pullman, Wash.
Mouhamed Gueye (Hawks) – Since the Trae Young trade a few weeks ago Gueyes’ minutes have grown significantly and so has his production. Against the Lakers he had 5 points, four rebounds, one assist and five steals. He followed it up with 6 points, three rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals. To end the week against the Celtics he had 5 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Gueye was active on the defensive ends, he recorded the most steals in a week he has ever in his NBA career.

WSU forward Mouhamed Gueye drives toward the hoop during an NCAA men’s basketball game against Utah, Dec. 4.
Overall, it was a step forward as a group but they still have not all played a good week at the same time. With the trade deadline approaching the roles and minutes of all of them will be changing until Feb. 5, 2026.
