Forward Emmanuel Ugbo has been suspended for the game against the University of Portland for violating team rules. The length of his suspension is unclear.
“We will get an update on the longevity of that as soon as we can, but nothing besides that,” said head coach David Riley in a press conference.
Riley did not give a clear answer as to what it was that caused Ugbo’s suspension.
“That’s all I’ve got today,” said Riley.
This season Ugbo has been able to make contributions for the Cougs. Ugbo has featured in 22 of the team’s 24 games and has started six. He did not play against Chaminade on Nov. 24 due to an injury. Ugbo has averaged 6.7 points per game with a career high coming against Eastern Washington in the 509 Classic where he scored 20. He has also been solid defensively with a career high three steals against Saint Mary’s and a career high two blocks against Idaho. He is also averaging 3.3 rebounds a game.
Prior to Pullman, Ugbo spent three seasons at Boise State. Last season with Boise State he played in all but two games for them, and averaged 3.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and shot 48.8% with a career high 17 points.
