Whitman County Judge Roger Sandberg placed a one-year protection order on WSU basketball forward Emmanuel Ugbo Wednesday, as reported by Greg Woods of the Spokesman Review. Documents first obtained by Murrow News 8 Feb. 11 reported WSU volleyball player Lauren Johnson received a temporary protection order against Ugbo after he allegedly stalked and harassed her.
Ugbo was in a relationship with Johnson during the 2025 fall semester. She claimed to have ended the relationship with Ugbo, who was unaware of the relationship ending. Ugbo made many attempts to reach out to her, allegedly changing his number at one point. He also reportedly found her address and sent her flowers as an attempt to “win her back,” court records said.
Ugbo has missed the last five games, last playing on Jan. 28 against Seattle University, where he had 7 points in 29 minutes.
Prior to his suspension, Ugbo played in 22 of 24 games, including six starts. He missed one game against Chaminade on Nov. 24 due to injury. Ugbo recorded a career high 20 points against Eastern Washington University in the 509 Classic. This season, he has averaged 6.7 points per game and 3.3 rebounds.
