WSU guard Kase Wynott is expected to enter the transfer portal, ending his tenure as a Cougar.
Wynott came to WSU with some hype tied to his name after he scorched the competition in high school in the neighboring state of Idaho. However, Wynott could never find his footing during his time at WSU, and plans to play elsewhere next season.
This season was a loss for Wynott, who only played in five games before missing the rest of the season due to injury. Before getting injured, Wynott flashed improvements this season, averaging more points on less minutes compared to his freshman season, leaving the question of what could have been for him and WSU.
In less than ten minutes per game this season, Wynott averaged four points per game, while shooting 50% from the field and 40% from three. At 6-foot-6, Wynott possesses a versatile frame, and with his offensive upside, he should have no trouble finding his next opportunity.
Assuming Wynott is granted a medical redshirt for this season, he will possess three more years of eligibility.
Wynott is the third WSU player to enter the portal, joining forwards Eemeli Yalaho and Emmanuel Ugbo. Time will tell on how many other players join them in the portal this offseason.
