Amid a disappointing season for WSU basketball, players have been announcing plans to enter the transfer portal. Parker Gerrits is the latest Coug to do so, posting a farewell message to X early Thursday.
Gerrits mentioned how he felt like a Coug not when he enrolled, but when he was a kid running around the RV lot tailgating for football games.
After three seasons in the Crimson and Gray, Gerrits is officially moving on. His reasons for leaving are due to wanting to grow his role and playtime. Gerrits averaged almost 2 points, one assist and one rebound per game. Gerrits had a career high of 11 points this season against the University of Portland in only 13 minutes of action.
While Gerrits leaving is not the biggest hit to the Cougs, it is still alarming when a player averaging less than two points elects to leave. Losing other players like Eemeli Yalaho and Kase Wynott can prove to be detrimental to an already struggling program.
Gerrits says he will be back in Pullman for many weekends after his college career is over.
