Will Stratmeyer: “Nobody has ever said that it’s not OK to be white, our society has never deemed at any point in time that it is not OK to be white. White people are fine, they always have and they always will be. But for those who are marginalized, LGBTQ people, people of color, women, religious minorities, they’ve been told by our populations, our societies, our customs, that it’s not OK to be who they are and that they are perceived as less than. The ‘It’s OK to be white’ posters are problematic because it takes away the focus on people who are actually marginalized in our country to a demographic that does not face systematic oppression.”

Andrew Thomas: “Can someone explain to me how this is an example of white supremacy or racism? A sign that reads ‘it’s OK to be black’ or ‘it’s OK to be a woman’ surely would not be deemed racist or sexist. I’m clearly missing something. I just don’t get it.”

Amelia Jordan: “It’s a recruitment tactic by white supremacists to try and get white people to feel like it isn’t OK to be white, then they see the poster, get defensive, and the next thing you know you have a budding white nationalist. This poster tries to create conflict when there isn’t one.”
