Great holiday deals, free chocolate and prize drawings bring the Pullman community together in an event hosted by Pullman’s Chamber of Commerce.

Chocolate Decadence is an annual event where Pullman businesses offer a variety of free chocolate and holiday deals to everyone who visits the participating stores. The event also features opportunities to enter multiple drawings for prizes worth up to $700.

Britnee Packwood, events coordinator for the Chamber of Commerce, is planning this event for her first time and looks forward to meeting the businesses she works with on a regular basis.

“Chocolate Decadence is an opportunity for people of the community to get out and explore what Pullman has to offer,” Packwood said. “The holiday season is coming up, and we’re trying to promote people shopping here in Pullman.”

Some businesses will make their own treats, while others will purchase chocolate to give away, depending on how creative they decide to get, Packwood said.

“There’s a heavy concentration in the downtown area,” Packwood said. “We have people with businesses out on Bishop Boulevard, and we even go towards the Palouse with Dissmore’s.”

Throughout the day, chamber members travel around town to check on how the event is going, and afterwards, they debrief with the businesses on the outcome of the day, Packwood said.

Elizabeth McManus, marketing promotion coordinator at Brelsford WSU Visitor Center, hopes the event will help Crimson Confection gain exposure.

Crimson Confection, a student organized chocolate business, will be providing free chocolate at the Visitor Center.

“I’m excited to give the students who’ve been working very hard an opportunity to share what they’ve done and give them space to promote their product,” McManus said.

Amber Marchelli, owner of Amber’s Grooming Salon, said this is her first year being involved with Chocolate Decadence.

“It’s easy to get involved,” Marchelli said. “You get to meet a lot of new people, and my kids are excited to hand out candy.”

Marchelli said she wants to make more connections within the community. She will be handing out coupons, and there will be an additional drawing to enter at her salon for the chance to win a free dog spa.

For their first time involved in Chocolate Decadence, Sweet Mutiny will be offering mini cupcakes.

This map including all locations for this event can be found on the Pullman Chamber of Commerce website.

Chocolate Decadence will begin at 4 p.m. today at various businesses throughout Pullman. The event will conclude at 7 p.m.
