Falk dismisses NFL draft rumors

WSU’s redshirt junior quarterback Luke Falk dismissed rumors that he would be leaving for the NFL after this season in a news conference Monday, and he questioned where the rumours came from.

“I’m just trying to help my team win and if I had to make the decision right now, I’m definitely staying,” said Falk. “I don’t know where the story came from, it’s actually kind of frustrating, but it’s nothing in my control, but you’ve just got to block out the noise.”

The original report came from the Bleacher Report NFL twitter account through Bleacher Report NFL draft writer Matt Miller.

Pro Football focus has previously ranked Falk as the number three quarterback prospect for the 2017 draft should he have declared.

Falk Currently leads the country in completed passes and completion percentage, while sitting second in passing yards and eighth in passing touchdowns. Falk finished fifth in the nation last season with over 4500 passing yards and finished at the top both the passing attempts and completions lists.

After putting up consistently impressive numbers, many teams were high on Falk’s pro potential coming into the season, and there was speculation that he would head for the draft after the season.

Junior linebacker Isaac Dotson was also certain that Falk would be returning for his final season. When questioned about the rumours, Dotson gave a quick and clear confirmation of what Falk said.

The overall tone of anyone questioned about the draft rumours was dismissive, with three different players and Head Coach Mike Leach all expressing the need to block out the noise and focus only on the next week’s game.

The 25th ranked Cougars’ next game will come against the University of Arizona Wildcats at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Martin Stadium.
