Diversity Up All Night illuminates the many cultures represented on the WSU campus.

The Student Entertainment Board (SEB) Up All Night Programmer, Renz Pedroso said that when he recently went to a leadership conference he realized the diversity we have on campus and decided to make an event that will highlight that diversity.

“I wanted to put on an Up All Night that’s dedicated to the multicultural diversity we have,” Pedroso said.

After experiencing Up All Night two years ago, Pedroso wanted to create a similar event for the students who don’t get the opportunity to travel or study abroad.

“(This event will) allow people who don’t get to travel the world to experience different cultures without spending any money,” Pedroso said.

Pedroso has invited all of the diverse Registered Student Associations (RSO) to come share their culture. While he is unsure of how many RSOs will attend, RSOs will have the opportunity to perform different aspects of their culture for the first time during this event.

“I told them that if they want to teach the crowd how to dance, they could,” Pedroso said. “I think that a couple of them are going to do that, so hopefully it will work out.”

This event is intended to help students expand their knowledge about the diverse cultures in a fun way, Pedroso said.

“It’s a great experience for them,” he said. “I wanted to bring different cultures to them, so they can experience it. It’s more interactive than just learning about the cultures.”

The event will also feature a salsa-dancing lesson from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m., in addition to henna tattoos and food from Panda Express.

Diversity Up All Night will take place on from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. tonight in the CUB Senior Ballroom. Admission is free.
