From staff reports

After narrowly losing to cross-border rival Idaho, the Washington State men’s basketball team will head back home to face Texas at El Paso Sunday.

The Cougars (5-2) hope to keep their early season success going when they face off against the Miners (6-2) on Sunday, who have also had a successful start to their season thus far.

The Miners have dropped their last two contests to New Mexico State and UT Arlington. They will enter Beasley Coliseum Sunday with a focused mindset and determination to get back on another winning streak against the Cougars, who are also looking to start another winning streak.

The Cougars had won two straight before falling just short at Idaho, 78-74, on Thursday, and will look to secure a couple of home victories against UTEP and Texas State before packing their bags for Honolulu to play in the Diamond Head Classic, starting Dec. 22.

The Cougars will play UTEP at 3 p.m. Sunday in Beasley Coliseum before taking on Texas State at 6 p.m. on Dec. 18 in Pullman.
