Community members can attend the virtual lecture “Working Through the Past: German Efforts to Face their Nazi History,” at 4 p.m. Feb. 23. 

Speaker Susan Neiman, director of the Einstein Forum, will discuss how Germany has dealt with its Nazi past and the Holocaust, according to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum website.

The event will cover how the German government and its citizens acknowledged and reconciled the atrocities of the Holocaust. Neiman will talk about various cultural shifts, memorialization efforts and educational changes that brought attention to the Holocaust and encouraged nation-wide discussion, according to the museum website. 

Tuesday’s event will kickstart the Spring 2021 Rebecca Meyerhoff Annual Lecture and Programming Series. The series, which includes three events, is a collaborative effort by the WSU Center for Arts and Humanities and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C. It is part of an initiative focused on helping people understand persecution, racism and anti-Semitism, according to a WSU Center for Arts and Humanities website.

A faculty panel discussion and Q&A is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 21. Participants will have the opportunity to talk with Neiman directly, according to the WSU Meyerhoff Annual Lecture series website.
