ASWSU aims to serve the interests of students: best student organization

Students at WSU voted ASWSU the best student organization in Pullman.

Known as the student governing body and voice of the Cougs, ASWSU has accomplished a lot since the beginning of fall 2014.

“It’s exactly what we want to hear as a student organization. We want to be as beneficial as possible to students,” said Jared Powell, ASWSU president.

ASWSU strives tobetter their relationship with the multicultural community and make a difference through work in the state’s capital this semester.

Powell said he considers one of the greatest successes so far to be theIt’s On Cougs campaignthat was helmed under the leadership of formerVicePresidentLaKecia Farmer and other members of ASWSU.

“That really made a difference in getting the conversation going on sexual assault on campus,” he said.

Powell also considers ASWSU’s workonand progress with thecampus freespeech zonesto be aconsiderable success.

Powell said he is excited to work with the university to release cloud storage for WSU students laterthis March.
