The Moscow Public Library will host a Facebook Live event with author and illustrator Noah Kroese at 9 a.m. on June 18.

A Zoom call with Kroese will be broadcasted and viewable through the Facebook livestream, said Mason Neil, library outreach specialist.

Neil said the library decided to bring in Kroese for the event because he is a local artist. Kroese’s wife is also a staff member at the library, Neil said.

“As a library who is supported by our local community, it’s always interesting to include local talent,” he said.

Kroese said he has drawn professionally for 20 years and works as a freelance illustrator.

He said he will present a slideshow with some of his work as an illustrator that he has completed over the years. Kroese will also present parts of his new book.

The book, “Saturday,” is a combination of a graphic novel and a children’s book, he said.

“It’s about a creative little girl named India who has a terrible week and ends up getting stuck creatively and has to figure out a way to get out of it,” he said.

When the event is over, the library will set up an area where community members can pick up Make-A-Zine boxes, Neil said. The boxes are available for pickup after 10 a.m.

“A zine [is] a small self-published magazine,” he said. “So [there] will be a box complete with everything you need to make your own zine.”

The library is putting on other events throughout the summer and plans on bringing in a Nancy Drew impersonator for one event, Neil said.
