Artisans at the Dahmen Barn opened “Bird Brained” this month, an exhibit of bird-themed art created by members of Palouse Women Artists. 

“Bird Brained” features a variety of mediums from clay and painting, to quilting; and coincides with International Women’s Month.  Julie Hartwig, Dahmen Barn board member, called the exhibit “light-hearted and colorful.” 

Local resident Martha McIver is one of the many artists taking part in the exhibit, and said she loves being a member of the Palouse Women Artists.

“It is a group of women who work in many different mediums and are very open to creativity and supporting and encouraging each other,” McIver said. 

McIver encourages everyone to go see the show, and said it is a great way to support the local creative community. 

“I think it’s really great to see original art that a human being in your geographical area has made,” McIver said. “When I go to an art show, it always stimulates my creativity. I think even people who don’t consider themselves to be artists have that need as well for their creativity.” 

Located on N Parkway Rd in Uniontown, The Dahmen Barn has been providing an eccentric place to show off local and international art since 2006. “Bird Brained” will be on display from March 6. to March 27. The Barn is open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, and admission is free.
